Cancer patients in the Moose Jaw area will soon receive even better treatment and diagnosis as a new CR Reader will be installed at the Union Hospital in the near future.

The Mosaic Concert of Hope was an overwhelming success on Saturday in support of the Moose Jaw Health Foundation. Executive Director, Kelly McElree was hoping to raise $250,000 but was pleasantly surprised when all was said and done.

"We said, we really do need that CR Reader and all of that equipment that's attached to it. There's a reason we call it the Concert of Hope because we not only raised that total, we blew past it and raised $279,500."

Heading into the weekend the annual event had raised over $375,000 for the foundation but McElree says the amazing support from Mosaic helped them to nearly double that total in just one night.

He says they'll start shopping right away for the new equipment that will be installed in the Union Hospital and then transferred into the new hospital once complete. A CR Reader is a piece of equipment that allows for clearer diagnostic images while specialists look for cancerous cells in patients.
