Central Butte is the latest victim of the Saskatchewan nurses shortage. All acute care has been suspended until further notice.

A community north west of Moose Jaw is going without Acute Hospital Service after the 5 Hills Health Region announced they simply don't have enough nurses.

Effective Saturday, the Central Butte Regency Hospital stopped providing acute services because of what the call "an inability to ensure one registered nurse on duty."

This means emergency services, general medical services, and surgical treatment will not be available to area residents. But in the case of an emergency, ambulances will still be available by calling 911.

Few details have been released by the local health region.
