Sunrise at 8:43 AM and sunset at 5:47 this evening.  We're making progress - the days are getting longer and we're officially climbing out of what I call the 13 weeks of darkness.  November, December and January are dark and cold here in the prairies - it can be a struggle to through it.  Well, we did it.

February arrives on Saturday and that means Groundhog Day is Sunday.  We'll hope Wiarton Willie and Shubenacadie Sam predict an early spring but even if they don't, we can keep our chins up and our eyes on the prize.  Spring will officially arrive Thursday, March 19th, a little earlier than usual.  So, only 7 more Mondays to go before spring is here.  Or, if you prefer, we have 7 Fridays to go before spring.

You may also be pleased to know our friends at the Old Farmer's Almanac are predicting a hot, wet summer across western Canada.

You should also know that Canada Day lands on a Wednesday this year so you might consider that when booking your vacation time.  Oh, and Labour Day, the first Monday of September, doesn't arrive until September 7th this year.

Down the road, you may be pleased to learn the statutory holidays lineup well with weekends in 2020.  Christmas Day is on a Friday, giving most of us a 4 day weekend with New Year's Day the next Friday, giving us a 3 day weekend.

You're welcome.
