Another successful season of the Park Program has wrapped up.

This year's numbers were up all around the board, especially at Elgin Park.

Melanie Darlington is the Playground Coordinator with the Moose Jaw Parks and Recreation Board, and she discussed how the parks had changed this year.

"This year we did have a new park, Clark Gillies - it is on the east end. Usually, we have it at East End Park but because a spray park is currently being installed we didn't have it there this year."

Elgin's average attendance also rose this year, which Darlington attributes to multiple factors.

"We did eliminate the Smith Park's this year; we usually have one at Smith, but numbers were low last year there so we eliminated that. And we found that brought a lot of attraction back to Elgin Park."

One thing the program did to keep things interesting for the kids in attendance was to implement themed weeks all throughout the program.

Darlington explained the theme of the final week.

"For our Grand Finale, it was 'Camp's Got Talent' so they all put on a talent show for each park and then the winning park ended up getting a sundae party for their very last park day."

The program runs every summer starting in July and goes for 6 weeks.
