Peter Gorda, of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away May 7, 2024.  He was born June 23, 1933 on the Gorda homestead in the Elm Springs district of Saskatchewan.  Peter attended school at Wood Mountain, Parkers Bluff and later obtained his GED.  He worked on a ranch, then the oilrigs, eventually obtaining an electrician license.  He joined a few clubs and was an announcer for the South Saskatchewan Riding and Roping Club.  Peter and Ruth travelled all over the world, had their own band, business, and enjoyed entertaining with their music at many senior centers.  They obtained scuba diving license, accomplishing over 100 dives.  A love for life and zest, Pete and Ruth played many pranks on each other.

Pete is survived by his wife Ruth Gorda (nee Jones) (Cornell); children: Darcy (Gary) Nielsen, Mason (Yangisely), Brent (Kimberly); sister Irene Bachiu, Ruth’s children Teresa, Laura, Ron, Bill Cornell; five grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by son Mark, parents, Mabel and John; siblings: Kay Jorgenson, Mary Zarembo, Vera Balon, Elaine Hindle, Ted, Elise Wittman, Mildred Wittman, George, Vicky Gorda, Florence Berjian.

Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Pete will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:00 am, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Moose Jaw, SK. with Bishop Alex Johnson officiating.  Opening Prayer by Chad McDonald; Eulogy by Lorne Bachiu; Memories by Candice Dudley; special musical by Crystal Gray & Candice Dudley; Spiritual Thought by Bishop Johnson; Closing Prayer by Janice Johnson.  Pallbearers:   Garry Bachiu, Nicolas Bachiu, Adam Bachiu, Ron Cornell, Steven Dudley, Dean Larson. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
