He has retired from active duty but his passion for the military and military history is keeping Lt Col (Rtd) Ed Staniowski very busy these days.

A former member of the Royal Regina Rifles, Staniowski and a number of others are planning a trip to Europe to mark the 80th anniversary for OPERATION OVERLORD (DDay) in June of 2024.

Operation Calvados is an effort to "perpetuate, from the Rifles Senate and Trust to the current serving Rifles to the current serving Rifles the collective firsthand memories, stories and history of those who sacrificed so much during two World Wars. This will be accomplished during a Battlefield Tour of Honour to Europe in June 2024".

There are a number of angles to this story and Staniowski paid a visit to CHAB to explain this remarkable effort.

Staniowski says there is an opportunity for individuals to consider supporting the cause.
