A 58-year-old Moose Jaw man was arrested following an alleged assault of a minor.

The Moose Jaw Police Service received a report of an adult man physically contacting a boy under the age of 12 while at a city recreational facility. The victim was not injured and no medical attention was needed.

Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for David Coulombe Turcotte for physical assault. Turcotte turned himself in on Thursday.

Turcotte was released before a Justice of the Peace with the following conditions:

  • Attend court in Moose Jaw on Oct. 31.
  • Refrain from contact with the victim.
  • Refrain from contact with anyone under the age of 16 unless an adult is present who is notified of the charges.
  • Refrain from attending public parks, skating rinks, public swimming areas, or any recreational areas where it can be reasonably expected for someone under 16 to be present.
  • Refrain from seeking, obtaining or continuing employment, whether or not the employment is paid or volunteer in any capacity, that involves being in a position of trust or authority of someone under the age of 16.

The Moose Jaw Police Service says that, because the offence involves a minor, no additional information about the investigation will be released.
