The city has released the polling notices for the 2021 Municipal By-election.

Voting day will be Wednesday, November 3rd from 9 am until 8 pm.

To vote, people must bring either 1 form of identification that contains a photo, name, and address of the voter (Saskatchewan Drivers License, Saskatchewan ID Card, or valid government-issued photo ID)
or present 2 pieces of identification that display the name of the voter, and one-piece must also show the address of the voter.

The regular polling stations are as followed:

  • Poll #1 Moose Jaw Exhibition Convention Centre, 250 Thatcher Drive East
  • Poll #2 Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan Street
  • Poll #3 Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre, 235 3rd Avenue NE
  • Poll #4 Minto United Church, 1036 7th Avenue NW

One advance polling station will be at the Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre at 235 3rd Avenue, N.E.

The dates and times for the advanced polls are:

  • 12 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday, October 26
    12 pm to 6 pm on Wednesday, October 27
    12 pm to 6 pm on Thursday, October 28

Advanced polling will also be at City Hall on the 2nd floor at 28 Main Street, North on Saturday, October 30 from 12 pm to 6 pm.

A special poll will be taking place on Wednesday, November 3rd at the Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital on 55 Diefenbaker Drive. This poll is only open to people receiving care at the location.

There is also a mobile polling option that is available for anyone unable to attend an established polling site.

People with physical disabilities, limited mobility, or someone who is a resident caregiver of someone who cannot do so, may apply to have election officials come to their home to take their vote.

People who wish to apply must complete an application form and forward it to the City Clerk’s Office by Monday, October 25 before noon.

If citizens are planning to vote via mail-in ballots, the deadline to submit a mail-in ballot application is Tuesday, October 12.

People must submit a registration form, witness declaration, and provide a mailing address of the location they will be at during the By-Election.

The deadline for in-person applications is due by 4 pm Tuesday, November 2 at City Hall.

A ballot with instructions will then be mailed to the address provided.

"It is the responsibility of the voter to return the ballot to City Hall no later than 8:00 p.m. on By-Election Day, Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Ballots received after 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, will be marked as spoiled," as said on The City website.

The City Council is allowing residents who are receiving care in a personal care facility or similar institution situated to vote in the By-election by mail-in ballot.

The Returning Officer will overlook the use of mail-in ballots for residents, working with the Administrators at each of the following facilities:

  • Extendicare/Moose Jaw
