graham james

The federal government is getting involved with the sentencing of Graham James. Public Safety Minister Vic Toews is urging the Manitoba Justice department to review the sentencing decision carefully.

James was sentenced to two years in jail for sexually assaulting former WHL players Theoren Fleury and Todd Holt.  He could be eligible for day parole as early as September.

The Crown was asking for a six year sentence and Toews believes that it was a reasonable request, saying many Canadians are disappointed with what appears to be a light sentence.
