The speed limit in school zones is one of many items on tonight's agenda at the City of Moose Jaw's semi-monthly city council meeting.

School Zones

Bevan Harlton, Director of Operations, will present a report to city council which details proposed changes in school zones as part of the "Safe Routes to School" in the Transportation Master Plan. The city intends on an overhaul of the 20 school zones in Moose Jaw which include new pedestrian ramps, updating signage to the Manual of Unified Traffic Control Devices of Canada (MUTCDC) standard, and applying the recommendation to convert school zones to 30km/h.

Moose Jaw is the last City in Saskatchewan with a population of 5,000 to make the school zone transition to 30km/h.

City administration plans on bringing forward bylaw revisions at the May 27 regular council meeting.

Proposed new cellular tower

LandSolutions Inc., on behalf of Rogers Communications, has submitted a Discretionary Use Application to build a 52-metre telecommunications tower and related equipment building on a privately owned commercial parcel northwest of the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 2 cloverleaf interchange.
