The funeral service for former Moose Jaw mayor and Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) Ray Boughen will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., at the Zion United Church (423 Main St.).

Boughen passed away in late December at the age of 85. He will be remembered by his wife Sandra, his children Patti and Ryan, and his grandchildren Taylor, Kaitlyn, Noah, Tanner, Kyle, Dylan, and Bryce and brother Reg (Eddie) Boughen of Alberta.

He was a household name in Moose Jaw. Before entering into municipal politics, he was a long-time teacher and principal and served as a trustee on the Prairie South School Division board from 2000 to 2008.

Boughen served two terms as the city's mayor from 1994 to 2000. In 2008 he dipped his toes in federal politics and was elected as the MP for the now-abolished Palliser riding that included Moose Jaw at the time. He served in Ottawa for two terms and then retired in 2015.

Reverend Tim Ellis will officiate. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ray’s name may be made to Providence Place of Moose Jaw.
