The Riders on the field for practice at Mosaic Stadium.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders returned to the practice field on Tuesday morning just two days after picking up a 30-25 win over the Calgary Stampeders at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday.  However, the practice didn't feature much in the way of game planning or work for the players, as it was more of a walk through than a practice.

Head coach Corey Chamblin says they took it easy to allow the players to rest up with a short week ahead, "With all of the guys that we just have injured, we just had more of a walk through practice to give them one more day, before we can make a good assessment on where they are."

There's a long list of injuries on the Riders right now after halfback Eddie Russ (lower leg) and non-import defensive tackle Keith Shologan (shoulder) both left Sunday's game against Calgary.  They were both on the field on Tuesday though and look like they escaped anything serious.

Russ said it was a mircale that he didn't suffer a more severe injury, "Real nice sprain, but it rolled on the inside, instead of the outside.  It's not a good thing to be injured, but it's a good thing it rolled on the inside instead of the outside.

"I was honestly thinking six months and surgery, but once I got over the initial pain, and I started walking on it, I felt good."

"The shoulder hurts a little bit, but I'm getting through it," said Shologan.

Both players are expected to push things a little harder when the team returns to regular practice on Wednesday at Mosaic Stadium.

The news wasn't all good though, as Chamblin couldn't provide updates on defensive end Brent Hawkins and offensive guard Brendon LaBatte after both players missed Sunday's game and weren't on the field for Tuesday's practice.

The Riders will practice for the rest of the week in Regina and then take on the West Division leading BC Lions on Saturday night at Mosaic Stadium.
