Are you ready for the Rush?

Last week, the National Lacrosse League’s Saskatchewan Rush announced they are bringing a professional lacrosse pre-season game to Moose Jaw.

The Rush will face their western rivals, the Calgary Roughnecks, on Nov. 25 at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Cody Janzen, the Rush’s communications manager and play-by-play voice of the lacrosse club said they are excited to bring this brand of lacrosse to Moose Jaw and southern Saskatchewan.

“We have a large group of travelling fans who drive all over. So, for us a club to be able to bring the game to southern Saskatchewan for the first time ever, that’s super exciting because we know how much fans have given back to the club,” Janzen said.

This will be the first time that professional lacrosse has been played in southern Saskatchewan. Janzen said one of the reasons they decided to host the game in Moose Jaw was because of the facility.

“I think that it is a perfect mid-sized lacrosse venue that’s going to be rocking. I think it’s something where southern Saskatchewan is so lucky to have an events centre facility like that,” Janzen said.

The game will bring some of the top lacrosse players in the world to Moose Jaw. The atmosphere is also unlike other sporting events, where it is high-energy with a fast-paced sport while music plays the entire time.

The Rush are coming off an 8-10 season where they just missed the playoffs. There is been a bit of turnover in the roster as they have brought in new players including Frank Scigliano, Patrick Dodds, Zach Manns, Adam Jay and Cameron Wengreniuk, while holding on to star players like Robert Church and Ryan Keenan.

Ticket pre-sales will be available for Rush season ticket holders on Thursday and public access to tickets goes live on Oct. 2.
