If you have a snowmobile, chances are you haven't moved it since last summer.

According to Saskatchewan Snowmobiling Association President and Ceo Chris Brewer it's going to take more then a few small snow falls before you can fire up your sled.

"If we're going to be grooming snow mobile trails we'd like to see a good foot of snow or more, then the machinery can go over that and pack and build a base and that base is so important for lasting the season", says Brewer.

Brewer says they have heard of incidences regarding snowmobilers getting stick in mud this season and would like to tell everyone to be extremely careful in all conditions especially ice.

"It may look like it's a little bit of a swampy area, we've seen and heard of snowmobiles sinking in the mud out there this year. In other areas of the province you might see a little bit of snow on some ice and want to venture out. Now, the ice has had a good chance to form, so be very, very cautious going on the ice this year."

Brewer explains that he believes the part of the province who received a substantial amount of snow to take you machine out on would be near Hudson Bay.

"The clubs been there busy using that snow that's there, packing it on the trails to get the trails frozen. We didn't have a real cold fall, so we haven't seen any frost on the ground then snow came so that's been on the ground insulated and kept the ground from freezing. So that's been quite a challenge."

Brewer feels that snowmobilers being safe this winter is one of his biggest concerns.
