It’s a wrap for the Sask vax app that has been in play in the province over the last few months. The app that provided proof of vaccination for individuals seeking entry to restaurants, businesses, and ticketed venues has been decommissioned by the government. In a press release on February 14, the day requirements for proof of vaccination and negative testing were lifted, the government asked people to delete the app and stated it would no longer be available for download. It’s part of the plan to see the province “transition to living with COVID.”

However the Vax Wallet app and the accompanying QR codes will still be available and will remain active for the foreseeable future. The idea is to accommodate those who may need to identify their vaccination status for travel in other jurisdictions. COVID vaccination records will still be available through the MySaskHealth record for printing and display on phones.

Despite the lifting of the vaccination proof mandate, some agencies in the province insist on continuing the practice of having patrons provide proof of vaccination. The Broadway Theatre in Saskatoon states on social media that it will insist on proof for audience members to get a seat. It’s much the same for the Conexus Arts Centre and the TCUP in Saskatoon for performances of the cities’ respective symphonies. Proprietors of those venues note that some artists have a condition of vaccination proof for performance.

The University of Regina will maintain proof of vaccination or meet testing requirements for all of its students, faculty, and staff.

The Moe government insists that the only way to move forward in the province and heal divisions is to begin lifting mandates. The mandatory indoor mask policy will be lifted at the end of the month.
