Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Moose Jaw and the surrounding areas.

It says that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in southwestern Saskatchewan this evening.

The storms have the potential threat of producing hail the size of baseballs and strong winds gusting up to 110 km per hour.

Environment Canada says these thunderstorms have been occurring across the province bringing severe weather conditions. It says that although the main threats of these thunderstorms will be very large hail and damaging winds, but a tornado cannot be ruled out. Should the tornado threat increase, a tornado watch will be issued.

Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road.

The chances of the storms producing lightning is also likely.

Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
