Holy Trinity School Board Office

It's deadline day for anyone looking to run for mayor, council or school board.  Paperwork must be handed in by 4pm Wednesday.  Moose Jaw's race for mayor has two candidates while city council has 17 and counting, but there doesn't seem to be nearly as much interest in running for school board election.

At last word, the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division only had two candidates for five available positions in Moose Jaw.  If no one else comes forward, by the end of the day, Gerry Gieni says they willl need to put out another call for nominations just like they did in 2009.

"If it comes to that, it's a bit disappointing for sure," Gieni said.  "We'd like to see the slate full and even an election would be nice as that shows that there's good interest."

In Prairie South, no one has filed paperwork to run in Subdivisions 2 or 5 which represent regions like Rouleau, Avonlea, Caronport, Gravelbourg and Lafleche.  So far, just one candidate has come forward seeking election in Subdivision 4.

However, there has been good response in Subdivisions 1, 3 and in Moose Jaw's Subdivision 6 where eight candidates are currently seeking five available board positions. That means there will be a vote held for sure come October 24th.

If you're interested in running, for either school board, information packets can be picked up from the school board office or from City Hall.
