The Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association’s (SHSAA) Regional Curling tournament is taking place this weekend.

“We had conference and city championships in the first level,” explains Roger Morgan, the Athletic Commissioner for Prairie South School Division. “Then we had a district championship in Gravelbourg, and the advancers from that are going to regionals in Moose Jaw.”

The event kicks off at noon, on Friday, March 3, at the Moose Jaw Curling Centre.

The top 2 teams from each region will advance to the SHSAA Provincial Curling Championship the following weekend.

In the boy’s category, Vanier, Gull Lake, Swift Current, Kyle, Outlook, and Avonlea are competing. In the girls’ category, Peacock, Cornerstone, Swift Current, and Fox Valley are competing, and in the mixed category, Glentworth, Peacock, Hazlet, Maple Creek, Loreburn, and LCBI (Outlook), are competing.

“There is a silver collection at the gate to help us pay for the ice rental and awards,” Morgan added.

Concession will be provided by the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
