The Moose Jaw Elks Lodge #7 is hosting their annual Chili Challenge this weekend at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 59.

The event kicks off at noon on Saturday, March 11, and runs until 3 pm in the Legion Lounge.

“Our national charity deals with hearing disabilities, so we provide coupler hearing aids for children,” explains Secretary for the Lodge, Bonnie Bender. “We do assist with other needs throughout the community, they just have to [send] an application into the Elks.”

The Elks typically see an average of 12 to 15 dish entries each year.

“We’ve had everything from vegetarian chili’s, to spicy chili’s, to chicken chili’s... You name it, they bring it.”

There will also be a prize for the best bowl voted on by the judges, as well as the best bowl voted on by the people.

“It’s $10 to register your chili, and then if you just want to come and eat chili, it's $10 as well,” adds Bender.

Email elkslodge7@sasktel.net to register, or phone Bonnie at (306) 631-0830.
