A weekend on the road starts Friday night in Weyburn with a game against the Beavers for the Moose Jaw Miller Express. The local Western Canadian Baseball League team is in 1st place, but just a half-game up on Regina after the Red Sox beat the Beavers last night 12-1. The Millers are in Swift Current on Saturday for a double-header against the 57s.
After wrapping up their Regina Baseball League regular season this past week the Canucks head to Regina this weekend for Provincials. The Canucks finished with a 16-2-1 record in the Regina league which saw them finish in 2nd place behind the 1st place Swift Current 57s. The Canucks 1st game at provincials is Friday nightat 6 pm vs. the Sask 5 Giants.
In Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League action on Friday night, the 18U AAA Canucks are in Regina taking on the Wolfpack, followed by a double-header on Sunday against the Swift Current 57s at Ross Wells Park. The 18U AAs are at home on Saturday taking on the Muenster Red Sox at 2:00 p.m., followed by the Assiniboia Aces at 8:00 p.m. The 15U AAA has a busy weekend starting with a double-header on Saturday in Assiniboia, and then in Swift Current on Sunday to take on the 57s.
The Moose Jaw Minor Baseball Association is hosting two provincials this weekend at various diamonds across the city. The first is the 11U AA Tier 2B provincials, with two Moose Jaw teams in action, and the second is the 15U AA Tier 3 provincials, with one local team. Both provincials kick off at noon on Friday and run until Sunday afternoon.
The U13A Ice are in Regina this weekend for their provincials. They took down the Twin City Angels 8-5 in their first game. They play Friday afternoon against the White Butte Storm, and play again Friday night, taking on the Regina Saints.
The U17A Ice is traveling down to Estevan this weekend for the first annual Energy City Exposure Showcase. They kick things off Saturday morning against the Saskatoon Raiders, followed by the Spirit Softball in the afternoon. On Sunday the Ice will battle the Lumsden Cubs at 12:30 p.m., and then the South East Sun Devils at 2:15 p.m.
Edmonton Elks came from behind for their 2nd win of the season in Montreal last night as CFL week 6 kicked off. The Elks beat the Alouettes 32-31. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers host Calgary tonight - both teams unbeaten so far. The Saskatchewan Roughriders play the Toronto Argonauts tomorrow - NOON our time...It's the Touchdown Atlantic game in Nova Scotia.
Kansas City Royals beat the Jays, in Toronto, 3-1 on Thursday night. The Jays will continue their three-game series against the Royals on Friday night.
