Quarterfinal action begins this afternoon at the 2023 Para World Ice Hockey Championships at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. 2-1 Italy plays 1-2 Czechia at 3. The undefeated Chinese play Team Korea - who have yet to win a game - at 7.

Team Canada has a bye into the Semifinal and plays tomorrow night at 7.

The Moose Jaw Miller Express took down the Swift Current 57's 7-1 last night at Ross Wells Park. The Miller Express are in Medicine Hat tomorrow for a game against the Mavericks. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Several Moose Jaw boys were drafted yesterday in the 2023 SJHL draft for those born in 2007 and 2008.

2023 SJHL Draft 2007

Kierin Osberg, who played last season for Prairie Hockey Academy U17 Prep, was selected third overall and signed to play in Yorkton next season.

Gage Nagel, who also played last season for Prairie Hockey Academy U17 Prep was selected 12th in the second round by the Battleford Stars. Nagel had been previously selected by the Lethbridge Hurricanes - going 7th overall in the WHL draft.  He is signed with Moose Jaw AAA next season.

Kale Pratt was picked up by the La Ronge Ice Wolves in the fifth round. Pratt played last season at the Prairie Hockey Academy U16 Prep.

The fifth pick in the fifth round was Noah Thul by Weyburn. Thul also played for the Prairie Hockey Academy U17 Prep team last season.  He is signed with Moose jaw Warriors AAA next season.

2023 SJHL Draft 2008

Ryan Gibbs was picked fourth in the second round by Weyburn. Gibbs played U15AA with Moose Jaw last season and has committed to Moose Jaw AAA Warriors next season.

The Blue Jays picked up a 3-1 win over the Brewers yesterday in the majors. This afternoon, they start a three-game series against the Mets. The first pitch is set for 5:10 p.m.
