The Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 in overtime last night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Jager Firkus scored the OT winner, while Atley Calvert added a pair of goals for the Warriors. Lynden Lakovic also scored. Jackson Unger turned away 27 shots in the win. The Warriors improve to 11-8-0-0 this season with the victory and sit just two points back of Saskatoon and Medicine Hat for first place in the Eastern Conference. Moose Jaw will host the Tigers tonight at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Puck drops at 7 p.m and you can catch all the action on Country 100 with the pregame show starting at 6:40 p.m.

Warriors rookie defencemen Connor Schmidt and Canada Red lost in overtime to Canada White 3-2 yesterday in the quarterfinals at the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Prince Edward Island. The other quarterfinal game saw Czechia beat Finland 2-0.

The Moose Jaw Winmar AAA Warriors are back on the ice Saturday night in Notre Dame taking on the Hounds starting at 7 p.m. The Warriors are looking to qualify for the Circle K Classic beginning Dec. 27 in Calgary.

Five Canadian teams were in action last night in the NHL. Kyle Connor had a hat trick as Winnipeg doubled up on Nashville 6-3, Edmonton lost 3-2 to the previously winless San Jose Sharks, Montreal beat Detroit 3-2 in overtime, and Vancouver outscored Ottawa 5-2.

Team Saskatchewan from the Swift Current Curling Club kept their hot streak going at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, picking up two wins on the first day of the championship round at the Innovationplex. Saskatchewan opened the day with a 5-3 win over New Brunswick. The late game saw Saskatchewan beat Alberta 8-4. Saskatchewan will take on the Northwest Territories this afternoon and Manitoba tonight.

Senior high school girls volleyball regionals take place this weekend at Regina Johnson with local teams Central, Peacock, and Vanier competing for a birth in the 4A provincials, which will take place next weekend at Vanier. The Spirits have qualified for provincials as the host school but will be playing for seeding this weekend. 

Last night in the NFL Thursday night game it was Chicago slipping by Carolina 16-13.

The CFL East and West Finals take place Saturday with Winnipeg hosting BC and Toronto welcoming Montreal. The winners will square off in the 110th Grey Cup taking place next Sunday in Hamilton.
