The Moose Jaw Warriors open up a new Western Hockey League season tonight when they play the Raiders in Prince Albert with the home opener tomorrow night against the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

The Warriors will start the new season without three star players with Denton Mateychuk, Jagger Firkus and Brayden Yager all participating in NHL training camps this weekend. 

All of the action is on your radio this weekend starting tonight with the Voice of the Warriors James Gallo. The pre-game show from Prince Albert starts at 6:40 p.m. with play-by-play to follow at 7 p.m. on Country 100.

The Winmar AAA Warriors also start their regular season this weekend when they host the Battlefords Stars at the Moose Jaw Events Centre tonight and Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.

In high school volleyball last night, the Peacock senior girls downed Notre Dame three sets to one.

Week 16 in the CFL kicks off tonight with the 6-7 Saskatchewan Roughriders in Ottawa to face the 3-10 Ottawa Redblacks.

Over in Major League Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays dropped a 5-3 decision to the New York Yankees last night. The Jays are a half game up on Seattle and Texas in the battle for the final wildcard spot in the American League. The Jays open a three-game weekend set against the Tampa Bay Rays beginning tonight.

In the NFL last night, the San Fransisco 49ers defeated the New York Giants 30-12.
