The Regina Trappers brought home silver at the 2023 Baseball Canada Men’s National Championship held in Red Deer over the weekend. The Trappers lost a heartbreaker in the final falling 6-5 to Quebec, who won the game with a walk-off home run. The team featured a couple of Moose Jaw players including Taylor Elder and Dan Morari. The 13U Selects finished their national tournament in 10th place in Woodstock, Ontario. Moose Jaw's Zaid Guillaume and Neal Kohl were part of that squad.

The Toronto Blue Jays remain 2.5 games out of the final wild card spot in the America League after a 10-7 loss to the Cleveland Guardians yesterday at Rogers Centre. The Jays continue their homestand tonight against Washington.

The Edmonton Elks snapped their CFL-record 22-game home losing streak yesterday. Canadian QB Tre Ford threw for 317 yards and one touchdown and ran one in himself in a 30-20 win over the Ottawa Redblacks. The Elks are sitting at 2-9, while the Redblacks have now lost five in a row falling to 3-8. The Riders are preparing to host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Labour Day Classic Sunday at Mosaic Stadium.

In Prairie Football Conference action the Regina Thunder improved their record to 3-0 with a 45-21 win over the Winnipeg Rifles.

The Houston Texans edged the New Orleans Saints 17-13 in NFL pre-season action.

Lorie Boyle and Chris Knoop of Moose Jaw won the 2023 Mixed Championship held at the Hillcrest Golf Club over the weekend.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are set to welcome 75 players to the team’s 2023 Training Camp which gets underway Thursday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. This year’s camp will feature 44 forwards, 23 defencemen and eight goaltenders battling for spots on the team’s roster.

Registration is now open for the Lynbrook Golf Club Labour Day Classic tournament taking place on September 4. The cost is $35 for members or $75 for non-members. Team registration deadline is September 1.
