Two new city senior high school basketball champions were crowned on Tuesday in front of packed crowds at the Sask Polytech Gymnasium. 

Starting with the senior girls' final, the Vanier Spirits rolled to a 73-35 win over Peacock. 

Vanier captain, Ava Kindiak spoke about the game and experience following last night's win. 

"It was crazy," says Kindiak. "It was hard at the start but after it was amazing hearing all the fans cheering."

Over to the senior boys' final Peacock came out victorious with a 102-72 win over Central Collegiate. 

Peacock captain, Lance Geddes said following the game that the win was due to their strong defense. 

"Our defense was honestly amazing," says Geddes. "The last two times we went against them it was terrible, but we improved it. I'm feeling great, we came in strong and it was awesome."

Bedard fever will be taking over the Moose Jaw Events on Saturday night, as the Regina Pats and Moose Jaw Warriors get set for their final meeting of the season in a home-and-home matchup. 

First off on Friday night, the Warriors travel to the Brandt Centre to take on the Pats, and then on Saturday, the series switches back to a sold-out Moose Jaw Events Centre. Both games kick off at 7:00 p.m. and all the action can be heard on Country 100. 

The Moose Jaw Carpet One Mavericks 1 & 2 get set for their respective finals. The Mavericks #2 will kick off their west final on Wednesday in Unity against the Western Prairie at 5:15 p.m., and Moose Jaw #1 will host the Parkland Fire at the Pla-Mor Palace on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. in the east final. 

In the NHL, Winnipeg fell 5-3 to Carolina, Montreal beat the Penguins 6-4, Edmonton doubled up Ottawa 6-3, Calgary fell 4-3 to Arizona, and Vancouver took down Dallas 5-2. 

In spring training on Tuesday, the Blue Jays fell 10-3 to the Yankees.
