Is this it?  Is this spring?  It's a month late.  The forecast for the weekend is wonderful with sunshine and daytime highs up in the double-digits.  We'll see bicycles and motorbikes on the streets again and shiny, happy people getting out and about.

I've had a number of reminders over the past few weeks that this isn't the first time we've had a late spring.  I remember one year when I was coaching Little League we had to push back opening day by about 10 days due to cool, wet weather and then, on May 8th, opening day, we got about a foot of wet snow.

I can also remember, just a few years ago, we were almost two weeks into May before the golf courses opened.

Interesting to note, the Old Farmer's Almanac forecast for the prairies has been very accurate this spring.  They predicted the snow and cold for April and, in fact, they call for one more "snowstorm" before the end of this month.  Here's hoping that's inaccurate.
