The danger may have passed, but Spring Valley locals are still keeping an eye on the smoldering heap of grain and wood that was once their grain elevator.

There was little volunteer firefighters could do once they arrived to the site of the fire on the evening of August 24th. Thankfully, there was no wind and some moisture, so

All that remains of the once proud landmark is a giant heap of smoking grain and a piles of wood still burning on the site.

RM of Terrell worker Shaun Beitel, who helped to combat the blaze says the remains will "smolder for a while" because of " part of the elevator that's under the wheat that's burning as well".

Local retired farmer Clarence Runzer agrees, saying that "once... the wood" is burnt out "everything will be okay" and back to normal for the small town.

Overall, Spring Valley citizens are sad to see their elevator destroyed in such a manner, but glad that no one was injured. They are also taking extra percautions to make sure that the fire does not start up again and that remaining embers do not accidentally spread.

There is still no word on what caused the fire.

The fire site distance from the town was not far, but thankfully it did not spread beyond the elevator.

Some smoke and flames are still coming from the site.
