There were 100 ticket packages left at noon and time has officially run out.

On Tuesday the counter on the Saskatchewan STARS Lottery website stated there were only 9 days left to get in on the action, but they also said the lottery is 99% sold at noon, and shortly after that completely sold out.

Early bird prizes will be announced this Thursday with the final draw scheduled for Thursday, August 1st or it potentially could be sooner with the tickets now all spoken for.

Although the $4.1 million in prizes is tantalizing, STARS officials are also reminding us why it's important to participate in the lottery because of where the proceeds go.

"In Saskatchewan, we are very grateful that approximately 50% of our annual operation funding comes from the provincial government. However, that means the remaining 50% comes from - which is 10 and a half million dollars - must be raised each year from individuals, corporations and communities," Legacy giving Officer, Fred Matiko, explained at their open house that kicked off the lottery.

"The lottery is a big part of that, and it is our single largest fundraising initiative to help keep STARS in the sky and on the cutting edge of excellence. In true Saskatchewan spirit, you've answered the call every year to make the STARS lottery a success netting more than $2 million annually to support our operations in the province."

Matiko said it's clear that the need for STARS in the province is evident just by looking at the number of times their staff and emergency responders have been called upon.

"Since we started operations in the province in 2012 and with our two bases here in the province - one in Saskatoon and one in Regina, our very experienced pilots, doctors, nurses and paramedics have used their critical care expertise to help patients on more than 5,500 missions in to more than 500 communities in the province of Saskatchewan."

There are 2,016 prizes to be given away in the 2019 draw. Two show homes worth more than a million dollars each, a 2019 Jayco fifth wheel toy hauler, 2019 GMC 3500 Crew Cab SLE diesel, two 2018 Sea-Doos, and $10,000 cash are just some of the many prizes listed on the life-saving organization's website.

Those who purchased STARS lottery tickets also had the opportunity to grab another ticket or tickets for their returning 50/50 draw as well, with the current payout listed at $875,000.
