Streets Steakhouse and Bar is located at 857 Thatcher Dr E in Moose Jaw.

It was just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down last winter that Jeff and Ashlea Street made a major move and made some changes at their Moose Jaw restaurant.  The Streets gave up the Rock Creek franchise and became an independently owned operation. Rock Creek Tap and Grill became "Street's Steakhouse and Bar".

The changes were refreshing and business was good.  And then, COVID hit.  The Streets were forced to close their doors just like all of our restaurants.  It was a time Ashlea will never forget.

"I mean, it was a hit but we took the steps we needed to take.  We obviously wanted to follow what the guidelines were and make sure everybody was safe and that's kind of what we continue to do".

"We shut down for three months and then we put a delivery system in place which was in the process of being done before COVID hit but, ya, it kind of put us into a faster mode of getting it done but, we've re-opened and we have an unbelievable staff.  We were lucky that a lot of them wanted to come back to work and support us...to make sure we did the things we needed to do to open."

Ashlea told us local support has been "amazing" since the restaurant re-opened.

"Yes, just the outpouring from doing catering jobs or just the regular people that we see - the faces - there's been so much support.  I don't know if it's COVID or if it's the changes we've made at the business but we've definitely seen lots of support."

Ashlea says giving up the franchise and taking over the restaurant on their own was a big step but one they felt they needed to take to continue offering a quality dining experience for their patrons.

"We changed it over knowing that Moose Jaw needed something that had good quality food.  We knew that we already had the service but we just needed to make some changes and be able to make them when we wanted to."

Ashlea and Jeff Street know all about quality beef.  They were on the farm at Stony Beach, just east of Moose Jaw, raising cattle before they made the move to Moose Jaw.

"We raised 650 head of cattle and calved them out.  We also owned a butcher shop which was provincially inspected so, we know what quality beef is and that was important to us", Ashlea said.

"So, we pretty much moved to town, put everything we had into this restaurant and we continue to do so.  I mean, we have our name up on the sign so we definitely want to make sure that anyone that steps through these doors has the best experience they can have.  That's what we strive for", Ashlea stated.

Street's Steakhouse and Bar offers "Prime Rib Nights" on Fridays and Saturdays and a most impressive everyday menu with a variety of choices from pizza and pasta to delicious appetizers and of course, the beef.

"We changed all of the beef.  It's locally raised - Saskatchewan and Alberta beef.  It's Triple "A" beef.  We do steaks now and our burgers have no filler in them - it's all beef.  We've got wings, we've got salads and we will be making some changes to our menu", Ashlea says.

Among the new menu items will be some seafood selections.

"We're going to be calling it our "Deadliest Catch", and I think people are going to be blown away when they see what we have to offer.  We're looking forward to it", she said.

When they're not hard at work, Ashlea and Jeff Street are busy parents with three growing children.

"They are quite active - outdoor kids.  They play hockey, they do sports and they are at the restaurant quite often so people will see their faces.  They keep us on our toes and we do what we can to provide for the family and make sure they're happy at the same time", Ashlea said while chuckling.

You can check out their menu and order online if you go to their website.

You'll also find the Street's guarantee on the menu.  It's also their slogan.  "Street's Steakhouse and Bar.  We have the best steaks in town and that's no bull!"
