Brian Swanson agrees with countless city council candidates who have identified Moose Jaw's infrastructure deficit as a key priority.  While he says that's good to see, he insists it's not an infrastructure deficit, it's simple "infrastructure neglect".

Swanson is seeking re-election to council and says our ability to address infrastructure is hindered through questionable spending practices.  He says six years ago the city had no debt and today it's $42 million in the red.  Despite that, the 55 year old property manager says property taxes and utility rates continue to increase well beyond the rate of inflation.

"It's almost cliche to say but we have the priorities of infrastructure but economic development is still, perennially, the number one issue in Moose Jaw." explained Swanson when asked about other campaign issues. "That's because we're probably lagging behind other places in that area."

Swanson has developed a reputation for his focus on financial accountability, core infrastructure and debt reduction but, he says, Moose Jaw isn't doing well in any of those categories.
