Moose Jaw’s notorious Hometown Fair Parade is coming back June 22nd for the first time since 2019.

George Fowler, Manager of the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company, says the parade will have the usual floats with the Moose Jaw Police Service and the Fire Department but it might also feature some local horse riders as well.

There will be a ton of fun floats from a variety of local businesses as well.

The parade will have a theme called ‘Salute to Your Heroes’. The theme acts as a tribute to the front-line workers that have kept the community safe during the pandemic. However, the choice of who someone’s hero may be is up to the people.

“It could be whoever your heroes are. It could be a nurse or a fireman or a policeman, your grandpa, grandma or whoever, batman, superman. So, we left it up to the people participating to pick who their heroes were. It came out of the last couple of years with a lot of the extra work the healthcare and the health system have been doing and not just the healthcare system but the retail workers that have been out there every day during the pandemic,” says Fowler.

People are encouraged to dress up and pay tribute to their favourite heroes for the parade.

The parade will start at 7 pm on Civic Centre Drive and then will merge on Main Street and head south and then it'll conclude at Manitoba Street.
