The Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery (MJMAG) is celebrating the completion of a province project and a Merit Award from the Museums Association of Saskatchewan.

The MJMAG won the award for the Exhibition of Prairie Life project that travelled on tour across the prairie provinces.

“It’s a real honour to be a recipient of this award and to be recognized by peers in the museum community for the work that we do and especially to get recognition for this particular project,” says Jennifer McRorie, Director/Curator at the MJMAG.

The MJMAG teamed with a Museum and Art Gallery facility in medicine for the project.

It featured around 200 art pieces to showcase folk and contemporary art.

Everything from sculptures to handmade toys to paintings that displayed the essence of prairie life was a part of the gallery.

“There was a real variety of pieces. All of the works basically was looking at representations of prairie life so it’s politics and its humour and its history,” says McRorie.

The exhibition has recently finished but people a list of their current exhibitions on the website or Facebook page.
