The Community Living Service Delivery Therapy Centre has now been named after long-time Valley View employee Edie Montgrand.

A dedication ceremony was held on Friday afternoon for the Edie Montgrand Centre located at the Town ‘n’ Country Mall.

“She would have been truly moved and humbled by these kinds of accolades. After all, her years in public service, aside from growing up and working on the family farm, I'd only known her to work at Valley View,” said Edie’s daughter Angela Montgrand

Montgrand worked at the former Valley View Centre for 35 years. She began her career training to become a psychiatric nurse at Valley View Centre. She would eventually get into the physiotherapy department and would become the manager of the therapy department until her retirement in 2005. Montgrand passed away in 2007.

“She literally built us all up into leaders. She trusted us to do our jobs, and I remember going to her with new ideas or recommendations for equipment. As long as we could clearly present how it would enhance the lives of the individuals and build on the services, she would find ways to say yes,” said the manager of clinical prevention services, Bev Lamb.

The Edie Montgrand Centre opened in 2020 to provide occupational, physiotherapy and recreational therapy, replacing services that used to be offered at Valley View Centre for former residents and clients in the Moose Jaw area.

Dignitaries were on hand for the ceremony, including Moose Jaw Mayor Clive Tolley, Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Greg Lawrence, Moose Jaw North MLA Tim McLeod and members of the Montgrand family.
