Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Rose Thul; brothers, Bert and Kelly Thul; sister, Agnes Spasoff; sisters-in-law, Irene Thul and Muriel Thul; brother-in-law, Gil Spasoff; and son, Bob Thul. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; children: Bern (June), Helen (Art) Pashak, Stan (Alma), Peggy (Ron) Paloposki, Debbie Thul, Dan (Debbie) and Doug (Ronda); grandchildren: Joshua (Liz), Jennifer (Terrance), Jonathon (Alina), Sandy (Patrick), Dawn (Gord), Duane (Angela), Roberta (Jacob), Rhea (Shawn), Shawn, Jessie (Matt), Amy (Allen), Staci (Shawn), Justin, Nadine (Jason), Greg, Dustin, Tyson (Brooke) and Tianna; and many great-grandchildren. Dad was born in Marquis, SK. He was orphaned at a young age and was raised on the Ben Froehlich farm and St. Louis College. Coming out of college, he worked on the McCartney farm and Swift Meat Packers before joining the Navy. He served in WWII as a machinist and welder on a landing craft. After the war, he started a business with his brother Bert and later they started a moving company business. On November 17th, 1953 he married Evelyn Grondin and together they raised eight children. In 1961 they bought the farm in Drinkwater and moved onto it. He continued to move buildings and farm and then he and Bern started custom combining in the U.S. and Canada. His work was definitely his passion. Mom and Dad enjoyed many winters in Arizona with their friends. Dad enjoyed all the fishing trips he took with family and many good friends. He loved to golf and curl, which he was doing up until his passing. He enjoyed every opportunity he got to spend with his family and grandchildren. He loved to tell stories about his life experiences and always had an ear to listen to what you had to say. Dad had a strong belief and faith of the church, which was very important to him and he tried to instill this in his family. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in George’s name to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation – New Hospital Fund, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3.
