Mayoral Candidate Fraser Tolmie

"Will Moose Jaw be a leader or a follower?"

A simple question asked this morning as our first candidate for mayor stepped forward for the 2012 Civic Election.  Fraser Tolmie made the announcement Thursday morning at The Temple Gardens Mineral Spa.

"When voting for your next mayor and council, you need to make some critical decisions," said Tolmie at his news conference.  "One is to vote for a council that preserves the heritage of your city but allows for a vision of the future.  Not a second set of managers that creates more bureaucracy and keeps the city 30 years behind its potential."

The 42 year old has served as councillor for three years after first being elected in 2009.  During his address Thursday, Tolmie said he's ready to increase his commitment to Moose Jaw and build for a better future.

Tolmie is the first candidate to toss his name in the race for the mayor's seat.  Current Mayor Glenn Hagel announced his retirement earlier this year, opening the door for an exciting election campaign.
