Moose Jaw-born speed skater Graeme Fish became a world record holder in 2020.

It’s our third top sports story of 2020.

Fish broke a world record and won gold in the men's 10-thousand metres in the opening event of the second day of the World Single Distance Championships at the Utah Olympic Oval back in February.

He skated to a time of 12 minutes, 33.868 seconds, which was 11.14 seconds faster than teammate Ted-Jan Bloemen in second place. He broke Bloemen's world record by about 2.5 seconds.

Fish also won a bronze in the 5,000 metre race in Utah and appeared to be getting better as the season went on, just as the world stopped due to the pandemic.
