From light displays to outdoor skating, Tourism Moose Jaw is encouraging residents and visitors to explore seasonal activities across the city as the holiday season continues.
Everley Reid, creative coordinator for Tourism Moose Jaw, highlighted several options for families looking to get out and enjoy the season.
"The Lorne Calvert Campground has been turned into a winter wonderland, and the money from it all goes towards supporting major projects and educational programming at Wakamow, so it's also for a really great cause," Reid said.
The Wakamow Valley of Lights charges $10 per car for drive-through admission, with proceeds supporting the Wakamow Valley Authority's conservation and education programs.
Downtown and twinkle tours
Reid recommended exploring downtown Moose Jaw's decorated streets and local shops.
"So many of the shops downtown have beautiful decorations, they have amazing gifts. The decorations are up on the street, so we really recommend walking around and doing some shopping and maybe getting a little treat or something," she said.
Tourism Moose Jaw also publishes a list of homes with elaborate holiday light displays, allowing families to create their own self-guided "twinkle tour."
"People can find that on our Facebook page or Instagram, and they can do a little driving tour of their own, walking tour even if the weather smartens up a little bit," Reid said.
Sports and outdoor activities
Attending a Moose Jaw Warriors game offers another entertainment option. They have back-to-back games coming up on Saturday and Sunday, December 27 and 28, against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
"It's a whole lot of fun. It's really great to get out and support our team," Reid said.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Reid noted that skating rinks are open across the city, with public skating available at indoor facilities. Crescent Park and Wakamow Valley also provide walking options.
