The Tunnels of Moose Jaw has been selected as a finalist for the Air Canada Business of the Year category at the Canadian Tourism Awards.

On Wednesday, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) will be holding an awards ceremony in Ottawa. Bobby Hill, general manager of the Tunnels of Moose Jaw, will be attending.

“We were nominated for the Hospitality Saskatchewan Business of the Year Award from Tourism Saskatchewan, and shortly thereafter, the TIAC Canadian Tourism Awards came out, and Tourism Saskatchewan recommended that we submit our same information for these awards,” said Hill.

The other finalists under consideration in the category include CanaDream RV and Oak Bay Beach Hotel.

Hill said being selected as a finalist came as a surprise, but he is pleased. “It’s a huge honour, and it’s something that we’ve never been nominated for in the past. It just says a lot about what our team has done coming out of the 17-month closure during the pandemic.”

“It’s been an uphill battle, but I think once we opened back in July of '21, we really hit the ground running, and it was just great to see people out and about in downtown Moose Jaw again.”

The Tunnels of Moose Jaw is currently getting ready for the change in season and hopes that people keep local attractions and businesses in mind when making decisions on fun things to do. “We’re hoping that over the winter that Saskatchewan and Canadian residents think a little bit more locally when it comes to their family holiday plans.”

There are currently three tours operated at the Tunnels of Moose Jaw, including the Chicago Connection, Bunker 24, and Passage to Fortune. You can find more information on their website
