The Moose Jaw Police Service has confirmed that two people died in a fire that occurred early Thursday morning in a multi-unit dwelling located in the 200 block of Athabasca Street West.

Upon the extinguishment of the fire, Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS), Moose Jaw Fire Department (MFD) and the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) examined the fire scene and located two deceased persons in the multi-unit dwelling.  

MJPS continue to work to identify the individuals and notify the next of kin.  

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.  

MJPS, MFD, SPSA and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Office continue to investigate to determine the circumstances that led to the fire and subsequent deaths of these individuals.  

There will be no further updates until the persons can be identified and the families notified.

The scene of the fire is still deemed to be unsafe, and the public is asked to avoid the location.
