Dr. Vianne Timmons and Mayor Glenn Hagel

Moose Jaw was the focus of a delegation from the University of Regina Thursday as U of R president Doctor Vianne Timmons came to our city with her senior leadership team to talk about ways the post-secondary institution can become more involved with the Friendly City.  They met with Mayor Glenn Hagel and other community leaders throughout the day.

Timmons says Moose Jaw is a big part of the university and they want to foster the relationship going into the future. "We have almost a thousand students, over the last decade, who have come to the University of Regina from Moose Jaw. So we see us as the University of Regina and Moose Jaw's university."

Timmons adds that by becoming a more provincial university it will allow them to get a better understanding of research needs in the province and then they can partner more in community development and continue to build their co-op programs.
