The rumor of Valley View Centre closing down is several years old now and since the thought popped up, no real official commitment has been received from the provincial government.

Well, City Hall has finally received a commitment and its in support of keeping the facility just south of Moose Jaw operational.

Councilor Dawn Luhning says this is great news. "Its huge! I think there's about 650 citizens that are employed by Valley View and I mean if we lose a facility like that its similar to World Wide Pork closing down so we've got to stay on those things because those are the things that keep people here."

But The provincial government did state the kind of care residents of Valley View receive is changing and the City of Moose Jaw will be consulted if any changes are coming.
