The Moose Jaw Warriors have named Minnesota Wild prospect Daemon Hunt as their captain leading into the shortened 2020-2021 season.

Hunt, who was drafted by the Wild in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, will be entering his third full season with the Warriors. He has scored eight goals and 29 assists over 94 career regular season games and is the 34th captain in team history.

“Leadership is all about influence,” said Warriors head coach Mark O’Leary in a media release. “Daemon’s attention to detail, professional preparation, and unmatched compete level make him a natural leader. I know Daemon is excited and is ready for the responsibility.”

Hunt was the 15th overall pick by the Warriors in the 2017 WHL bantam draft.

The team also named its assistant captains: Tate Popple, Logan Doust, Ryder Korczak and Calder Anderson. The Warriors said Popple and Korczak will have a letter on their jersey full-time, while Doust and Anderson will alternate between games.
