The Moose Jaw Generals have surprised a lot of people with their strong start to the season and one of the big surprises for them has been the play of rookie forward and Warriors prospect Darcy DeRoose.

He's second on the team with 14 goals and 27 points in 27 games, but DeRoose says his play hasn't been a surprise to him, "Got off to a bit of a slow start, but usually put the puck in the net, so having a point per game average is where I want to be."

A listed player for the Warriors, DeRoose says playing in the Friendly City has really helped his development this season.

"I get to practice with (the Warriors) when I can and watch them all the time.  I've also played a couple games with them, so getting experience," said DeRoose.

"They like that I'm a big body and can put the puck in the net. They want me to work on my defensive zone responsibilities and need to finish a little bit more."

DeRoose and the Generals will return from the Christmas break on December 27th in Richmond, B.C. for the Richmond International Midget Tournament.
