It’s a huge two-game series this weekend for the Moose Jaw U18 AAA Warriors.

A pair of games against the arch-rival Regina Pat Canadians are happening Friday in Regina and Saturday at Mosaic Place between the 4-and-0 Warriors and the 4-and-1 Pat C’s.

“The guys are ready to go and obviously Regina’s had a good start, and the same with us,” said Warriors head coach Trevor Weisgerber. “We’re looking forward to having a fun weekend here playing with them.”

The Warriors have scored an impressive 18 goals in their for games this year, with co-leading scorers and second year players Wyatt Wilson and Atley Calvert leading the way with eight points each. Goaltending has been solid and reliable between Kael DePape and Jaxson Taupert, who have combined to allow only five goals while earning a sparkling .943 save percentage.

The Pat Canadians meanwhile have steamrolled some of their opponents so far this season. They’re scored 30 times in five games, with Seattle first round pick Sam Oremba and Kyren Gronick scoring 11 points to lead the SMAAAHL. Former Warriors Davis Fry and Sam Boldt are also part of the Pat Canadians’ top five scorers. Dazza Mitchell and Drayden Ramage have allowed eight goals so far in net with a .908 save percentage.

The Warriors don’t seem to be intimidated by some of the numbers the Pat Canadians have put up so far this year.

“With our D, and obviously, our goaltending, you play as a team and you play the systems and work hard, that should take care of that,” Weisgerber said.

Both the game in Regina and Saturday’s tilt in Moose Jaw have been sold out.
