With the recreational season in full swing soon, the provincial water security agency is urging people to use proper disposal methods for the septic waste.

Septic haulers must have a valid Water Security Agency permit to transport and dispose of liquid domestic sewage, and they can only dispose of that waste according to their permit.

The agency said that when hiring a septic waste hauling operator, you're encouraged to ask to see the haulers’ Water Security Agency issued permit and inquire where the waste is being disposed.

Not disposing of the waste the right way can cause damage to the environment and may pose health risks and safety issues for people, pets and livestock.

If you observe someone improperly disposing of waste, call the provincial environment ministry tip line at 1-800-667-7561, or Pound 5555 on Sasktel cell phones.
