With West Nile Virus now here in southern Saskatchewan it's very important that we take the proper precautions to avoid becoming infected with the potentially deadly disease.

"We did have a crow test positive that was picked up on July 4th," said Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Ross Findlater. "It is really just a reminder that every summer now in Saskatchewan you have to think about West Nile Virus risks in July and August. You know if there is one positive crow in Regina, there will be other positive birds across southern Saskatchewan at this point."

Dr. Findlater says using the proper precautions like bug spray and long sleeves and pants at high-risk times of the day are essential at this time of the year.
