Even though Christmas is in the rear-view mirror some people may still be keeping their authentic tree up a little while longer.
When they are finally ready to take down and dispose of their tree, the City of Moose Jaw wants to let people know where that can be done.
“You can drop your natural Christmas tree off in the parking lot just west of the Yara Centre by the Bike Park,” says City of Moose Jaw Manager of Communications, Craig Hemingway. “People can do that anytime they wish; all we ask is that all the trees are fully undecorated including all ornaments and especially tinsel.”
If you don’t or can’t haul your tree to the Bike Park (1220 High St. West), Hemingway explains that the city will provide a pick-up service later this month.
“People can drop their trees next to their waste bin on their regular collection date,” adds Hemingway. “Beginning on January 17th, our crews will pick up the trees as part of the normal collection.”
The tree collection will begin with Zone 1 on Jan. 17 and then move on from there.
For those wanting to get prepared for spring’s gardening season, the collected trees will be mulched and will become available to Moose Jaw residents and all will be used for the city’s green spaces.
People can pick up their mulch at the Christmas tree drop-off site at the Bike Park west of the Yara Centre.
