I don't go looking for her but when she appears with her babies, I take the time to stop and watch.  She's young and strong and you can tell her young ones are her pride and joy.  She's protective but stern at the same time.  She is a beautiful white-tailed deer.

Not far from were I see them is a family of mink.  They live and play on the banks of a pond that I go by 3 or 4 times a week.

On that same pond I see ducks and geese raising their new families and just recently a pod of lovely, white pelicans has joined them.

This is all happening on the same piece of land where you'll find the other regulars like the gophers, the rabbits and the badgers.

Where is this place, you wonder?  Where is this nature reserve?

Well, it's in our city.  It's been there for over 100 years.  It's the Hillcrest Golf Club.  Now you know.
