Unlike some winters past, this year, we actually have a fair bit of snow on the ground. Though we may tend to complain now and then, sometimes it's actually nice to live in a winter wonderland.

That's definitely the experience you'll have if you head down to Wakamow Valley right now, which has some great wintertime activities.

General manager, Todd Johnson, explains some of his favourite cold-weather activities that Wakamow has to offer.

"Definitely the skating oval. We have our snowshoes that people can sign out. Just give us some information and then you can borrow the snowshoes for the day or a couple of days and then bring them back."

Johnson says that there are also a lot more casual things to do if you're not the adventuring sort.

"Our maintenance staff keeps the asphalt paths that are throughout the park clear, so there's a safe place to go for walks. We want people to come out and use the valley as much as they did this summer, it was fantastic."

If you do decide to head to the Valley this weekend, just remember that the washrooms have been closed until spring.
