The 9th annual Toy Days ended this afternoon at Canadian Tire in Moose Jaw. The yearly event sees 800 CHAB, Country 100 and Mix 103 team up with Canadian Tire to collect toy donations for the Salvation Army who provide gifts for families in need during the Christmas season. The Salvation Army in Moose Jaw offers Christmas assistance to hundreds of local families and individuals every year. The toy donations collected from Toy Days will go to help in their efforts, with the Salvation Army organizing a ‘Toy Shop’ at their church for parents to pick out gifts for their children. Roy LaBuick and Robb Nesbitt with Friends of the Forces Fellowship dropped off a number of toys in the bins at the front of Canadian Tire, as they have in previous years. “We got our members together at [our] last meeting and got some toys all put together. All of our members made a donation over the course of the last couple of weeks, and we decided today would be the day to bring them in," said LaBuick. Ketan and his wife Shweta also made donations in the bins. The Moose Jaw Winmar U18 AAA Warriors also stopped by to donate some toys before their hockey game on Saturday. Ross Leckie, owner of Canadian Tire, spoke about why they host the annual event. “We enjoy supporting the community and getting things done with the community. We like to see all these toys wrapped up and handed out to kids that really need them.” Clarence Ingram, major with the Salvation Army, shared his thoughts on the results of Toy Days. "It just puts a smile on your face - I can just imagine what's going to happen Christmas morning."
